Position field default rules
Field default rules determine at the organization level which attributes of a position are carried over into requisitions and work assignments. For example, when you determine a position's work schedule, you can apply that work schedule automatically to requisitions and work assignments involving that position. This attribute would then become a default value on the requisition and work assignment. Default rules can also carry over the changes to related work assignments when the default rule is "Default No Override" or "Default with Override."
A work assignment is a position that is assigned to a resource.
When you create field default rules, you can specify one of the options in this table for each field. You can also specify the effective date on which the value option takes effect.
No Default | The attribute value is not carried over to requisitions and work assignments; however it may be carried over from an organization unit. If a field is required, default values (including blank values) do not overwrite a populated field (such as location code). |
Default With Override |
The attribute value is carried over to work assignments. If the value is overridden and out of synch, changes to the field do not carry forward. The attribute value is set to populate new requisitions, but you can override it. Note:
This option is not supported for work assignments imported into Infor HR Talent by the work assignment data load program or by the Infor Spreadsheet Designer. |
Default No Override | The attribute value is carried over to work assignments. The value cannot be overridden and the changes to the field carry forward. The attribute value is set to populate new requisitions and cannot be changed. |
You can select a defaulting option for the position fields in this table. The same option is applied to both requisitions and work assignments, with the exception of the Pay Step field that never automatically populates requisitions.

It is unlikely that you will be required to change your organization’s position field default rules. If you do change them, the new Default No Override field values are not automatically updated to the requisition or work assignment records. It is your organization's responsibility to update these field values on affected records.
If you change default rules, you can use effective dating to make the change effective on a date other than the date when you make the change. An effective date is required when you change default rules.
