Defining notification text for Development Planning notifications

Note: Not applicable if you are using Infor Learning Management.

The notification template text is an email template. When the notification is triggered, the variables in the email template are resolved using the context of the notification.

  1. Select Development Planning > Set Up > Notifications > Templates.
  2. Highlight or open the notification template for which to define text.
  3. On the Text tab, click Create.
  4. Specify this information:
    Effective Date

    Required. Specify the effective date.

    Template

The template name defaults into this field.

    Text

    Required. Specify the text name.

    Language

Required. Specify the ISO language code for the template.

Note: You can have one template text.
    Active

The notification text is active by default. To inactivate the notification text, clear the text box.

    To

Required. Right-click this field, select Variables, then select the email of the people receiving the notification (for example, Resource Email). Separate multiple entries by commas.

Note: Variable email addresses are resolved when an actual notification is sent. For example, if a notification is for a registration confirmation, the email of the confirmed resource will be substituted for the Resource Email variable.
    CC, BCC

Right-click this field, select Variables, then select the email of the people being copied on the notification (for example, Manager Email). You could also specify an actual email address, but this may cause maintenance problems in the future. Separate multiple entries by commas.

Note: Use variable email addresses when the person copied on the email depends on the context of the notification (for example, a resource's manager). You can use actual email addresses if the same actual person is always copied on the email.
    From

Required. Right-click this field, select Variables, then select the email of the person sending the notification (for example, Learning Manager Email). You could enter an actual email address or a no-reply email address.

    Subject

Specify the subject of the notification. You can include variables in the text. To see the list of variables, right-click and then select Variables.

    Body

Required. Specify the body of the message, using variables for all information that will only be known at the time that the notification is sent. Click the {A} icon on the text tool bar to display and select variables.

  5. Click Save.
Follow-up task: For a notification to be triggered, you must define a notification rule for the notification template.
