Copying pay components

Use this procedure to create a variation of an existing pay component by copying the pay component and making changes. The new pay component is of the same type (external metrics, bonus objective, special incentive, or bonus award) as the pay component being copied.

  1. Select Compensation > Set Up > Incentive Compensation.
  2. On the Pay Components tab, highlight the pay component to copy, and select Actions > Copy Pay Component.
  3. Specify this information:
    Effective Date

    Specify the date on which the new pay component becomes effective.

    Note: 

    The effective date cannot be earlier than the date that the source pay component was created.

    New Pay Component

    Specify the name of the new pay component.

    New Description

    Optionally, specify a description of the new pay component. If you leave this field blank, the default is the new pay component name.

    Copy Bonus Objective Goal Categories

    If the source pay component is a bonus objective pay component, select this check box to copy the goal categories defined for the source pay component. This field is not available for other types of pay components.

  4. Click OK.

    The new pay component is displayed on the Pay Components tab.

  5. Open the pay component and modify it as needed.
    You cannot modify the metric type or the payout frequency. You can modify other fields.
