Creating allocation over total budgeted amount validation

This validation is available on all planning rules.

When you define an allocation over total budgeted amount validation, the manager receives a message when the manager's award allocations exceed the total budget.

  1. On the Validation Rules tab, select Create > Create Compare To Guidelines.
  2. On the Define Compare To Guidelines Validation form,specify this information:
    Manager Eligibility Group

    Select the eligibility group for the validations; for example, managers at a certain level such as vice president or above.

    Process as Error

    If you select this check box, the application will not process the award.

    Percent Over Budget Allowed

    For the manager to be able to go over the budget by a percentage, specify the percent here; for example 1%. This gives the manager some flexibility in calculating awards, which might not otherwise add up to exactly the budgeted amount.

    Amount Over Budget Allowed

    For the manager to be able to go over the budget amount by an amount , specify the amount here. This gives the manager some flexibility in calculating awards, which might not otherwise add up to exactly the budgeted amount.

  3. Click Save.
