Entering hours balances for resources

Use this procedure to specify hours that are used to determine if the resource has met the minimum hours threshold on a rate progression rule. Hours can also be uploaded from a payroll system and viewed on the same form.

  1. Select Compensation > Pay Rate Processing > Rate Progression > Rate Progression Hours.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify this information:
    Effective Date

    Specify the date on which the resource hours balance was added.

    Employment ID

    Select the resource's employment ID.

    Step and grade schedule

    Select the resource's step and grade schedule.

  4. Click Save.
  5. On the Hours tab, click Create.
  6. Specify this information:
    Payroll Date

    Select the payroll date for which the hours are added.

    Hours

    Specify the hours balance.

  7. Click Save.

    The hours are added and shown in the Hours Balance field.

    When a progression rule including hours thresholds is processed, and the resource is moved to the next step because the threshold was reached, the resource's hours balance is updated automatically. This action is based on the option that was selected on the Update Balance field for the hours threshold rule.

    For example, the threshold for the rate progression is 1040 hours and the update option is Subtract Threshold From Balance. When the resource reaches 1040 hours and the rate progression rule is processed, an entry of -1040 hours is made on the resource's Hours tab. The Hours Balance is decreased by that number of hours.
