Creating resource budgets manually

Typically, you would use this procedure for one-off resources that the Calculate Budget action might have missed.

Note:

To calculate budgets that are based on salary structure midpoint, use the Calculate Budgets action. Manual creation calculates the award as the resource's current base pay multiplied by the budgeted percent that was specified on the Create Resource Budget Record form.

  1. Select Compensation > Awarding > Budget Process > Resource Budgets.
  2. On the Awarding Views list, open the awarding view for which to create budget records.

The Resource Budgets tab displays all of the resources for whom budget records have already been created (through the Calculate Budgets action or through this procedure).

  3. Click Create Resource Budget, and specify this information:
    Employment ID

Select the resource for which to create a record.

    Note:

You cannot create a budget record for a resource that already has a record for this awarding view.

    Work Assignment

    Select the resource's work assignment.

    Performance Rating

Select the resource's performance rating for the award. You can leave this field blank for the manager to complete during the awarding process. The rating scale defaults from the planning rule.

    Manager

Select the resource's manager. If left blank, then the manager on the resource's work assignment is used by the application.

    Percent

For salary or bonus planning rules, specify the budget percent for this increase for each applicable planning rule.

    Units, Amounts, Percent

For equity planning rules of type units, specify the units in the Units field. Or, specify a budget percent and unit price so that the budget can be converted to units for each applicable planning rule.

    Amounts, Percent

(For Equity planning rules of type Amounts) Specify an amount in the Amounts field, or specify a budget percent.

  4. Click OK.

The resource record is displayed on the Salary Resource Budgets form. It is also displayed on the selected manager's budget for that awarding view (accessible on Awarding > Budget Process > Manager Budgets and Awards).
