Copying values from run groups

Two threads are run for multi-threaded actions with multiple threads.

Before copying values from run groups, you must determine the priority for running the system:

  • If the priority is optimizing individual actions, then start with the default values.

In this case, actions are run slower because of the lower default number of threads. To run more threads for specific actions, you must update each action where improved performance is required.

  • If the priority is running the system with the previous number of threads, then copy values from run groups.

Relative to the default configurations, excess resources are consumed by some actions. If system resources are allocated equally to low and high priority actions by assigning them the same number of threads, then insufficient system resources may be available to the higher priority actions during times of high activity to complete this high priority work in a timely manner. Therefore, other actions are run slower due to the reduced availability of resources.

Note: If you copy values from run groups, you can then use the Revert To Delivered Values action to restore records to delivered values.

See Reverting to delivered Action Configuration parameters.

You can copy values of HCM_RunGroups and HCM_Payroll_RunGroups in the Number Of Threads field in action configuration records.

You can no longer disable Action Configuration but you can still run actions with the same number of threads.

  1. Select Administrator > Utilities > Action Configuration.
  2. Right-click the action configuration record.
  3. Select Copy From Run Groups.
