Defining cost types

Use this procedure to define the types of costs to track for activities and resource activity requests. Cost types provide ways to group costs. Common cost categories for activities are curriculum development, learning materials, hotels, meals, and so on. Examples include airfare, hotel accommodations, meals, registration fees, and so on.

  1. Select Learning and Development > Set Up > Costs > Cost Types.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify this information:
    Cost Type

    Specify the name of the cost type.

    Description

    Specify the description of the cost type. If you leave this field blank, the cost type name defaults.

    Use for Hours Outside Work
    Select this option to use this cost type for hours that are outside of work hours.
    Active

    Select this check box to make the cost type active. Inactive cost types are not displayed in lists.

  4. Click Save.
