Employer match contributions
Match Limit Schedule and Match Percent Schedule contributions create employer match deductions. Employer match deductions are determined by the benefit plan's contribution schedule, which is defined in the contribution setup.
For more information on employer match deductions, see Calculating employer match deductions.
Contribution Type | Deduction Calculation | Example |
---|---|---|
Match Limit Schedule | The deduction is created without any special calculations, taking the values directly from the schedule. See Creating match limit schedule contribution rules. | The employer matches 50% of an individual's contribution up to four percent. If an individual contributes three percent, the company match is 1.5 percent (0.50 * 0.03). If an individual contributes four percent, the company match is two percent (0.50 * 0.04). You can vary the match limit schedule based on years of service. If you do not want the match limit schedule varied by years of service, define only one range. |
Match Percent Schedule | For the match percent schedule, unique calculations are performed to determine the values to be used when the deduction is created. See Creating match percent schedule contribution rules. |
A plan matches 50% of individual contributions from one percent up to four percent and 25% of individual contributions from five percent up to ten percent.
