Start date

All benefit records have a start date to signify when the individual's benefit begins. This date becomes the effective date for the deductions that are created by the enrollment.

You can specify the date at the time you enroll individuals into benefit plans. If the individual's benefit is created through a life event, the start date is calculated using the entry and change rules. If the individual is enrolled through an open enrollment, the enrollment event determines the start date.

Example

The start date for your health insurance is May 1, 2019. You are entering an individual who is not eligible until June 1, 2019. A message is displayed indicating that the individual is not eligible until June 1, 2019. To enroll the individual, you must use a start date of June 1, 2019 or later.
