Creating COBRA occurrence types
- Select Benefits > Set Up > COBRA Occurrence Types.
- Click Create.

Specify this information:
- Occurrence Type

Specify the name of the COBRA occurrence, such as Termination or Open Enrollment.
- Description

Specify the description of the occurrence.
- Coverage Months

Specify the number of months of COBRA coverage that will be provided to the participant.
- Event

Specify the COBRA event for the occurrence. The valid values are predefined by the government (with the exception of Open Enrollment). There should be one occurrence type for each type of event.

Under Required Notification Days, specify this information:
- Employer

You can specify the maximum number of days that the employee has to notify the organization of their COBRA occurrence. For example, if this is set at 60 days and the employee was divorced on 01/01, they must let the organization know of this occurrence by 03/01.
- Administrator

Specify the maximum number of days that the organization has to notify the COBRA administrator of the event.
- COBRA Participant

Specify the maximum number of days that the COBRA administrator has to tell the participant of their eligibility.
- Election

Specify the maximum number of days the participant has to enroll in the benefits.
- Click Save.
