Updating beneficiaries outside of enrollment processes

Benefit administrators can enable employees to update their beneficiaries outside of an enrollment event.

  1. Select Maintenance > By Benefit Plans.
  2. Select a benefit plan.
  3. Click the Main tab.
  4. In the Beneficiaries section, specify this information:
    Beneficiaries
    Select the check box to enable the employee to update the beneficiary.
    Anytime Beneficiary Updates
    Select the check box to enable employees to update their beneficiaries anytime outside of an enrollment event.
    Designation Option
    Specify the type of beneficiaries to update:
    • Primary and Contingent: Select this designation to enable the employee to enroll beneficiaries as primary or contingent in any order.
    • Primary First: Select this designation to require the employee to have a primary beneficiary before enrolling a contingent beneficiary.
    • Primary Only: Select this designation to enable the employee to enroll primary beneficiaries.
    Designation Required
    Specify an option to require designation.
    If you select Warnings Only, then the employee receives a reminder that no beneficiary is designated.
    Spouse Primary Designation
    Specify a designation for an employee’s spouse.
    Amount or Percent Allowed
    Specify an amount or percentage to allocate to beneficiaries.
  5. Click Save.
