Retroactive accruals

Accrual plans with calculations or formulas that are based on hours worked will accrue amounts each cycle. Accrual is based on the resource service records that are present in the system for that cycle period. If resources have not submitted their records or recorded their time correctly, the accrual amounts may be inaccurate. Process Plans recalculates accruals based on late time records or based on service records that were added after the cycle is closed. The result is an accrual adjustment for the retroactive accrual amount that is due to the resource.

Cycle Based plans must have an accrual rule that is set to Pay Cycle Adjust. Accrual adjustments for cycle based plans are created for the period defined by the Pay Period End Date on the retroactive service records.

For Hours Based plans, the Accrual Rule Pay Cycle Adjust option is not applicable. Retroactive hours worked are applied towards the current accrual amount. Hour based plans do not have cycles so there are no past cycles to which the hours can be applied.

The Retroactive Accrual check box can be selected only when the Processing Option is one of these values:

  • All Processing
  • All Except Manuals and Events
  • Accruals and Allotments
Note: Accrual adjustments for retroactive accrual amount for Cycle Based Plans that have a Service Class indicated in its Accrual Table are processed if the Cycle Based Retroactive Accruals option is selected.
