Creating allotments
Define allotment rules to specify the allotment dates and calculations for each resource allotment record. You can relate allotments to accruals in this set up.
- Select Absence Management > Set Up > Plans and Components > Rules > Accrual and Allotment.
- Click Create.
- Specify an Accrual Rule code and Description.
-
On the Allotment tab, in the Choose One Requirement Date section, specify this
information. The requirements date in allotment rules determines when an employee's
allotment is calculated.
- Date
- Select the date on which to calculate the first allotment.
- Calendar Date
- Select a calendar date on which the first allotment is calculated.
- Date User Field
- Select a persistent date type field to use as the first allotment calculation date.
-
In the Waiting Period section, specify this information:
- Start Date
- If a waiting period must be satisfied before an allotment is given, select the date from which the waiting period begins. If a value is selected, the Waiting Period and Unit fields are required.
- Period
- Specify the waiting period that must be satisfied before an allotment is given. If a value is specified here, the Unit cannot be blank.
- Unit
- If a value is specified in the Period field, specify the
unit of time in which the waiting period is measured.
If you select Hours, more fields are displayed.
- Service Class
- If you select hours for the waiting period unit, select a service class that identifies which hours, by service code, that count toward the waiting period.
- Hours Type
- If you select hours for the waiting period, select which type of hours that count towards the waiting period.
- Date Flag
- If the waiting period start date is different than the requirement date, identify which of the resulting dates, after the waiting period is applied, use for the allotment begin date.
-
In the Allotment Details section, specify this information:
- Point
- If the allotment occurs annually on a specific calendar point other than the month and day of the accrual begin date, use this field to set the point. Do not use this for one-time allotments.
- Period
- Identify the number of units that define the allotment period. If a value is specified in this field, the Unit field cannot be blank.
- Unit
- Specify the unit in which the allotment period is
measured. This field is only valid when an amount is specified in the allotment
period field. Note: This value must coincide with the cycle frequency that is used for accruals if you are adjusting allotments by accruals.
- Occurrence
- Select whether this is a one-time allotment, or whether it occurs annually.
- Relationship to Accrual
- If both accruals and allotments are defined for the rule,
identify how accruals and allotments are related.
Select Adjust Allotments by accruals, if accruals are calculated, for comparison to the allotments that are given. Run Adjust Allotments to generate the adjustment transactions when accruals differ from the allotments.
- Relationship to Usage
- Select whether usage rules apply to allotments. If you select Independent of usage, then allotments are available immediately when given. If you select Apply Usage Begin Date, then allotments become available on the Usage Begin Date.
-
In the Additional Date Options section, specify this information:
- Nearest Point
- If points are specified for setting the allotment begin date, select whether to use the nearest point before or after the requirement is met.
- Points
- If the allotment begin date must fall on a specific calendar point, specify the month and day values to identify these points. For example, the first of a month.
- Pay Cycle Adjust
- Specify when to adjust the Allotment Start Date to
coincide with the resource's pay period end date. Use the resource's payment
schedule on their primary work assignment.
Specify Adjust To Pay Period to set the Allotment Start Date to the previous pay period end date from the calculated date.
-
In the Allotment Tables section, specify this information:
- Hours or Earnings
- Specify the table to use for hours or earnings allotment.
- Rounding Method
- Specify the method of rounding for calculations. The default value is No Rounding.
- Round To
- Specify the nearest increment to which rounding should occur. This field is valid only if you specify a rounding method.
- Click Save. Click Rule Details to view a .pdf file of the Rule setup and any related Table, Calculation and Formula detail.
