Creating service rules
Define service rules to specify the date on which service calculations begin for each resource plan record.
- Select Absence Management > Set Up > Plans and Components > Rules > Service.
- Click Create.
- Specify the Service Rule code and Description.
-
In the Choose One Requirement Date section, specify this information.
The requirements date in service rules determines when an employee's service begins.
- Date
- Select the date from which an employee's length of service is measured.
- Calendar Date
- Select the calendar date to use as the service begin date instead of the date maintained on the resource record.
- Date User Field
- Select a persistent date type field that is used to calculate the service begin date.
-
In the Waiting Period section, specify this information:
- Start Date
- If a waiting period must be satisfied before length of service calculations can start, select the date from which the waiting period begins. If a value is selected, the Period and Unit fields are required.
- Period
- Specify the waiting period that must be satisfied before service calculations start. If a waiting period is specified here, the Unit cannot be blank.
- Unit
- If a value is specified in the Period field, specify the
unit of time in which the waiting period is measured.
If you select Hours, more fields are displayed.
- Service Class
- If you select hours for the waiting period unit, select a service class that identifies which hours, by service code, are counted toward the waiting period.
- Hours Type
- If you select hours for the waiting period, select which type of hours count towards the waiting period.
- Date Flag
-
If the waiting period start date is different than the service requirement date, identify whether the earlier or later of the resulting dates, after the waiting period is applied, should be used for service calculations. For example, is the earlier or later date of Seniority Date or one year after Hire Date used to set the service begin date?
-
In the Additional Date Options section, specify this information:
- Nearest Point
- If points are specified for setting the service begin date, then identify whether the nearest point before (prior) or after (next) the requirement is met will be used.
- Points
- If the service begin date must fall on a specific calendar point, then specify the month and day values to identify these points. For example, first of a month.
- Pay Cycle Adjust
- Specify when to adjust the Service begin date to the
previous pay period end date. Use the resource's payment schedule on their primary
work assignment.
Specify Adjust to Pay Period to set the Service begin date to the previous pay period end date from the calculated date.
Specify Adjust to Pay Period; Include End Dates, to set the Service begin date to the previous pay period end date, even though the calculated date is already a pay period end date.
- Click Save.
