Plan payout options
When you select a plan payout option, you must consider the accrual option you selected on the Plan. Each option is valid for a type of accrual option.
The payout option determines whether hours or an amount is used for the time record that is created. The payout option also determines which type of absence transaction is created:
- Hours
- Earnings
- Both
Hours
- The pay code that is associated with the Hours Payout Service Code on the plan's
balance rule is used on the time record that is created.
The exception is if the record is overridden for terminated employees
- If the pay code calculation type is Do Not Calculate, then the number of hours is multiplied by the resource's primary work assignment hourly rate.
- The result of that multiplication is sent to the Amount field on the time record along with the Hours.
- The Pay Rate field on the time record is blank.
- For other pay code calculation types, only the number of hours is sent to the time record.
The Pay Rate and Amount for the time record are determined from:
- the employee's work assignment pay information
- the pay code calculation type and setup
Valid pay code calculation types for paying out Hours are:
- Do Not Calculate
- Normal Rate
- Hours Only
- Percent Rate
- Rate Shift Differential
- Percent Shift Differential
- Percent With Rate Shift Differential
- Custom Calculation
Earnings
When Earnings are paid out:
- The pay code that is associated with the Earnings Payout Service Code on the plan's
balance rule is used on the time record that is created.
The exception is if the record is overridden for terminated employees.
- The Earnings value is sent to the Amount field on the time record.
- The Pay Rate field and the Hours field on the time record are blank.
- Only pay codes with a calculation type of Do Not Calculate or Custom Compute are valid when Earnings are paid out.
