Creating accrual rules

Define accrual rules to specify how accrual dates and calculations work for each resource accrual record.

  1. Select Absence Management > Set Up > Plans and Components > Rules > Accrual and Allotment.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify an Accrual Rule code and Description.
  4. On the Accrual tab, in the Choose One Requirement Date section, specify this information. The requirements date in accrual rules determines when an employee's accruals are processed in Process Plans.
    Date
Select the date at which accrual processing begins.
    Date User Field
Select a persistent date type field that is used to calculate the accrual begin date.
  5. In the Waiting Period section, specify this information:
    Start Date
If a waiting period must be satisfied before accruals start, then select the date from which the waiting period begins. If a value is selected, then the Period and Unit fields are required.
    Period
Specify the waiting period that must be satisfied before accruals start. If a value is specified here, then the Unit cannot be blank.
    Unit
If a value is specified in the Period field, then specify the unit of time in which the waiting period is measured.

If you select Hours, then more fields are displayed.

    Service Class
If you select hours for the waiting period unit, then select a service class that identifies which hours, by service code, count toward the waiting period.
    Hours Type
If you select hours for the waiting period, then select the type of hours that count towards the waiting period.
    Date Flag
If the waiting period start date is different than the requirement date, then specify which of the resulting dates after the waiting period is applied to use for the accrual start date.
  6. In the Additional Date Options section, specify this information:
    Nearest Point
If points are specified for setting the accrual start date, then select whether to use the nearest point before (prior) or after (next) the requirement is met.
    Points
If the accrual start date must fall on a specific calendar point, then you must specify the month and day values to identify these points. For example, the first of a month.
    Pay Cycle Adjust
Specify when to adjust the Accrual Start Date to coincide with the resource's pay periods. Use the resource's payment schedule on their primary work assignment.

Specify Adjust To Pay Period to set the Accrual Start Date to the previous pay period end date from the calculated date.

Specify Adjust to Pay Period; Include End Dates to set the Accrual Start Date to the previous pay period end date, even though the calculated date is already a pay period end date.

    Accrual From Option
Specify the date from which accruals begin. Accrual Start Date identifies the date to start calculating accrual transactions. If a waiting period is applied to the requirement date, then this field identifies whether the resource receives accruals back to the original requirement date.
  7. In the Accrual Tables section, specify this information:
    Hours
Specify the table to use for hours accruals.
    Earnings
Specify the table to use for earnings accruals.
  8. Click Save.
Click Rule Details to view a .pdf file of the Rule setup and related table, calculation and formula detail.
