Adding Custom Defined Fields (CDFs) to a Client Custom Subject Area (CSA)

After a dimension has been successfully extended, the field values populate the assigned Custom Defined Fields (CDFs) in the HR-Consumer space’s Default Subject Area. See Extending the model with Infor HR Talent data.

These are the examples used in the instructions:

  • HR-Consumer Space
    • Default Subject Area
    • Attributes
    • Supervisor (Extended Dimension)
    • CDF String 01 (Customized field)

These instructions show how to add a CDF or other fields from the Default Subject Area to a Client Custom Subject Area. The Subject Area window contains the Default and all Custom Subject Areas. Expand or collapse nodes by selecting the triangle icon next to the Subject Area or folder name.

  1. Access Birst > HCM-Consumer space.
  2. Select Admin > Space Management > Subject Areas.
  3. Click the Custom Subject Area name.
    The Custom Subject Area now displays in the work tab to the right.
  4. Add CDFs to a client CSA.
    1. Click the Add icon in the Column tab.
    2. Click the Default Subject Area to expand.
    3. Click the Attributes folder to expand.
    4. Click the dimension to expand Extended Dimension. For example, Supervisor.
    5. Click the CDF field or other field.
    6. Expand the Subject Area or Folder to display the added field.
    7. Select the field and click the Actions icon, then select Properties.
    8. Specify the Column Label and select Save to save the changes to this field.
    9. Select the field and click the Actions icon, then select Description.
    10. Specify a description and select Save to save the changes to this field.
  5. Select Save to save the changes to the Custom Subject Area.
