The Task Details menu

The Task Details menu is used to view tasks or take action on tasks. The Details section shows information about the task type, including the current status and prerequisite tasks. The Prerequisite field is editable only for administrative tasks that have a status that is not cancelled, cancel confirmed, or complete.

The Assignment section shows information about the individual or task group to which the task is assigned. The Assigned To field is editable only for administrative tasks that have a status that is not cancelled, cancel confirmed, or complete.

The Processing section shows information that may be required to complete the task. For example, instructions and notes.

A task can be updated and saved in any status. For example, if a task is waiting on a dependency and the assignee can do some preliminary work. The assignee can update the notes and other editable fields before the prerequisite is completed. If the task requires collecting some information, then that information can be provided and saved on the task before the task is marked as complete.
