Examples of deferred tasks in workflows

The examples here represent ways that deferred tasks and associated notifications can be configured.

Example 1

In this example, the Job Questions task is deferred to a later step in the hiring workflow for a specific application process. Specifically, the Job Questions task is moved to the Recruiter Screen Setup step of the workflow. Because this is the only additional task that will be assigned at the Recruiter Screen step in the hiring workflow, the task-assigned email should be set up in the Automations tab of the task. When the candidate is moved into the Recruiter Screen step, the Job Questions task is assigned. If the candidate meets the eligibility group of the task, then an email is sent to the candidate, notifying them of the additional task. Reminders are sent if the candidate does not complete the additional task within the time frame of the reminder calculations. The task can include an email automation that is sent to the candidate notifying them of the additional task when the task is assigned. If the candidate does not complete the additional task within the time frame allocated, then reminders are sent.

Example 2

In this example, two tasks are deferred to the Hiring Manager Inbox step in the hiring workflow. Because two tasks are required, an email automation should be set at the Hiring Manager Inbox workflow step. This way the candidate receives only one email notification reminding them to complete the two tasks. An automation can be set at the completion stage of the task, so that when the candidate completes the task, they are moved to the next step in the workflow.
