Resource rehires

Using the Rehire action, recruiters can submit a request to rehire former employees or external candidates.

The candidate must first accept the offer and a start date must be set. Rehire requests are routed to multiple people who specify employee information. Administrators can update this information after the Rehire action is completed. The Rehire action does not update the employee addresses, contacts or identification numbers.

If your organization uses the On Board selection process, then you must ensure that onboarding tasks are initiated before you request to rehire an employee.

You can rehire a resource that is terminated. For example, you can rehire an employee returning from a leave of absence or who was on a fixed-term contract and for whom you want to hire on an indefinite term contract. The system does not place any restrictions on which resources you can rehire.

After the Rehire action is submitted, the rehire request is routed for approval. When the final approver approves the request, a new resource is created with a primary assignment corresponding to the work assignment information.

If Position Monitoring is used in your organization and a position budget allocation is exceeded in terms of the maximum FTE, then you might not complete the action. The displayed error message explains how the budget is exceeded. You can complete the action by reducing the amount that causes the budget error. Recruiters can complete the action by reducing the amount that causes the budget error.

When rehiring a resource, you can add the Legacy Employment Contracts and update or add a work assignment. If the Legacy Employment Contracts are defined and approved on the job offer, then you cannot change the Legacy Employment Contracts on the Rehire action. The contract document that is generated during the offer becomes an active Legacy Employment Contracts on the resource's record as soon as the Rehire action is completed. You can change the Legacy Employment Contracts.
