Creating trial periods

A trial period is a period during which a newly hired or a rehired resource is on probation. This is usually a period during which an employer may terminate an employee without prejudice. A trial period can be included in an employment contract on a work assignment.

  1. Select Administrator > Set Up > Resource Components > Work Assignment > Trial Periods.
  2. Click Create, and specify this information:
    Effective Date

    Required. Specify an effective date.

    Trial Period

    Required. Specify the trial period name. For example, THREE MONTHS.

    Description

    Specify a description for the trial period. If left blank, the trial period name defaults.

    Active

    Select this check box to make the trial period active. The trial period is active by default. Clear the check box to inactivate it.

    Number of Units

    Specify the number of units for the trial period. For example, if the trial period is three months, specify 3.

    Unit Type

    Select the unit type associated with the number of units. For example, if the trial period is three months, select Months.

    From Date

    Select the date from which to start calculating the trial period. For example, the Adjusted Start Date.

  3. Click Save.
