Creating notice-period schedules

You must create a notice period before creating a notice-period schedule.

Perform this task to specify increments that is used to determine eligibility for the selected termination-notice time period. For example, you can base this on the resource's age or length of service.

  1. Select Administrator > Set Up > Resource Components > Work Assignment > Notice Periods.
  2. Open a notice period.
  3. In the Schedule panel, click Create.
  4. Specify this information:
    Effective Date

This is a required field. Specify an effective date.

    From Value

Specify the start time for the schedule line. The value refers to your selection in the Notice Period Based On field. For example, if you selected Years of Service, specify the number of years. If you selected Age, specify an age.

For the first line, a From value might not be required. If you selected a notice based on length of service, the schedule is assumed to start on the date that you selected as the start date on the notice period. For example, if you specify Adjusted Start Date Plus 3 Months, the notice period calculation starts three months after the adjusted start date.

For Flat base, the From Value and To Value fields are irrelevant, because you are entering one line that applies to all.

    To Value

Specify the end of the range for which the number of units you are going to specify is applicable.

If this is the last line of the schedule, a To Value is not required. For example, if a notice period is effective for anyone over 50 years old, specify 50 in the From Value field.

    Number of Units

Specify the number of units of notice time. For example, if for a period of service range of 6 to 12 months, you give 1 week's notice, specify 1 in the Number of Units field and Weeks in the Unit Type field.

    Unit Type

Specify the unit type (Days, Weeks, Months, or Years) corresponding to the number of units you specified.

  5. Click Save, and add the other lines in the schedule.
