Linear normalization calculation

Adjustment against the Overall Rating Score is performed at the Appraisal Criteria Score/Goal’s Manager Rating Scores, and Third Party Scores level through the Normalization Calculation.

  • Appraisal Criteria Scores (Criteria Section) /Goal’s Manager Rating Scores (Goal Section) /Third Party Score (Third Party Section) are adjusted. The adjustment is to the equivalent level against the overall rating scale.

Used for Appraisal Criteria Scores and Goal’s Manager Rating Scores:

    Normalized Score = (1 + ((Score - 1) * (Overall Rating Scale Levels - 1)) / (Rating Scale Levels - 1))
    Used for Third Party Score:
    Normalized Score = (1 + ((Input - 1) * (Overall Rating Scale Levels - 1)) / (Maximum third-party score - 1))
  • For appraisal section scores, scores are expressed in terms of the overall rating scale at Appraisal Criteria Score/Goals’ Manager Rating Scores/Third Party Score Level. Therefore, the section scores are already in terms of the overall rating scale.
  • For the appraisal form overall score, each section score is multiplied by the section weight. The resulting values are totaled, divided by the total section weights. The result is already expressed in terms of the overall rating scale.

If a section has no specified weight, it is ignored in the overall calculation.
