Completing the performance appraisal cycle

Depending on the processes used by your organization, these steps may be included in the completion cycle

  1. The employee and manager meet to discuss the appraisal.
  2. The manager or appraisal owner updates the appraisal. To make changes to the appraisal, open the appraisal form and click Revert To In Progress. You can make changes that you agreed to with the employee, including adding goals or activities for the next appraisal period. Click Submit to finalize the appraisal again.
  3. The manager or appraisal owner specifies the performance rating on the appraisal form. Do this when the overall performance level is determined and no additional updates are required for the appraisal. You cannot change the appraisal form after it has been submitted.
    1. Open the appraisal form and click Update Overall Rating.
    2. Select the Overall Performance Rating.
    3. Select the applicable check box from these options:
      • Submit to Upline Manager Immediately
      • Submit to Employee Immediately
    4. Click OK.
  4. Optionally, if upline approval is required, there are two options for how the appraisal is routed. If upline approval is not required, the appraisal might still require an acknowledgment.
    • An appraisal can follow the employee’s manager structure. The appraisal is routed first to their manager’s manager.
    • An appraisal can also follow the appraisal owner's manager structure. Approval follows the owner's current manager structure regardless of the employee’s direct manager.
  5. Acknowledgment and comments might be required by the employee, manager, or both. There are four options available.
    • The appraisal is routed back to the manager, then and employee to acknowledge the appraisal. Comments may be required from the manager, and may be available for the employee. After it is acknowledged, the appraisal is archived as historical.
    • Only the manager is required to acknowledge the appraisal, located in their Inbasket. Comments may be required. After it is acknowledged, the appraisal is archived as historical.
    • Only the employee is required to acknowledges the appraisal, located in their Inbasket or on the Pending Acknowledgment tab for My Reviews. Comments may be available. After it is acknowledged, the appraisal is archived as historical.
    • If acknowledgment is not required, the appraisal is archived as historical.
