Appraisal rating scales and rater types

Rating scales

Rating scales are used to rate the criteria, goals, and overall performance on the appraisal form.

Rating scales are global. You can use any of the rating scales that are defined for goals, competencies, or skills. Any rating scales that you define for appraisals can also be used for goals, competencies, and skills.

Rater types

Rater types describe the relationship that exists between a resource and the other resources that are asked to assess their performance. For example, an other rater can be a dotted line manager or an internal customer.

When you define an appraisal form with other raters, you can select up to three rater types that are valid for other raters.

When a resource, manager, or HR administrator requests other raters for a resource, the requester selects the resource ID of the other raters. The requester can than select the appropriate rater type.
