Overall appraisal score calculation and display

  1. The percentage for each section and competency group is multiplied by its weight.
Note: Sections that are not weighted are ignored in the overall calculation.
  2. The resulting score is divided by the total weights for all of the sections and competency groups.
  3. The resulting score is multiplied by the number of levels on the rating scale used for the overall appraisal.
  4. If rating scores are specified on the rating scale, the rating level that corresponds to the rating score is displayed. If the rating scale does not have scores, the manager must specify a rating level.

The manager can change the rating score and the rating level if the appraisal form has been set up with those permissions.

Assuming that the rating scale for the overall appraisal is a five-level scale:

Section Section non-weighted percentage Section weight
Goal section 0.6334 40
Position section 0.5575 40
Competency model - weighted section 0.545 30
Competency group 1 0.5889 30
Competency group 2 0.7833 20
Criteria section 0.5833 40
Third-party section 0.8 10
Total weights 210
Overall appraisal score based on an overall rating scale with 5 levels ((0.6334*40) +( 0.5575*40) + (0.545*30) + (0.5889*30) + (0.7833*20) + (0.5833*40) + (0.8*10)) / 210 * 5 = 3.06

If rating scores are specified on the rating scale, the rating level that corresponds to the rating score is displayed. If the rating scale does not have scores, the manager can select an appropriate rating level that is based on the calculated score.

If the appraisal form setup allows it, the manager can change the rating level.
