Defining or requesting an organization unit and job budget

Planning Level = Organization Unit And Job

  1. Select Position Budget Manager > Position Budgets and select the position plan for which you want to define a budget.

    or

    Select Position Budget Manager > Position Plans, open the position plan for which you want to define a budget, and click the Budgets tab.

  2. To create a budget that does not require approval, click Create.

    or

    To request a budget to be routed for approval, click Request A New Budget.

  3. Specify this information:
    Budget Date

    Specify the budget date. It must be within the date range for the position plan.

    Organization Unit

    Select the organization unit for which you want to define a budget.

    Job

    Select the job for which you want to define a budget.

    Note: 

    You can define multiple budgets for the same organization unit and job, but with different start dates. When a budget action is taken that includes the organization unit and job, the effective date of the Hire action determines which budget to apply.

    FTE

    If the position plan budgets by FTE, then specify the budgeted FTE for the organization unit and job.

    Headcount

    If the position plan budgets by headcount, then specify the budgeted headcount for the organization unit and job.

    Salary

    If the position plan budgets by salary, then specify the budgeted salary for the organization unit and job. Specify the currency in which the salary is expressed.

    When you save the budget, the salary amount is converted to the position plan currency.

    Budget Reason

    Select a reason for defining the budget. Budget reasons are defined in Administrator > Set Up > Action Reasons with a subject of HCMPositionPlanBudget.

    Comments

    Optionally, add comments about the budget.

  4. Click Submit to submit the budget for approval.
    The budget is displayed after it has been approved.
