Position plan statuses

Status Description
Preliminary

This is the status when a position plan is initially created. You can activate a preliminary position plan, provided no other position plan is currently active for the same period range. You can also inactivate, update, or delete a preliminary position plan. You can also delete a preliminary plan.

You can define multiple preliminary position plans for the same period range. To refresh the plan, you can run the Build Position Plan Assigned Resources action at any time against the active plan.

Active
Note:

Only one position plan can be active at any time for a given period range. To activate a position plan when an active plan already exists, you must first revert the currently active plan to preliminary status or inactivate it.

When you activate a preliminary or inactive position plan, the status changes to Active and the current budget counts are automatically calculated. You can view them under Position Budget Manager > Reports > Budget Variance. When a budget-related action is taken, the action is assessed only against budgets in active position plans.

You can inactivate an active plan or revert it to Preliminary status. You cannot delete an active plan.

You can modify an active plan. If you modify an active plan, then run the Build Position Plan Assigned Resources action to rebuild your current budget counts.

Inactive You can activate an inactive position plan, provided no other position plan is currently active for the same period range. You can also revert an inactive plan to Preliminary status and update or delete an inactive plan.
