Component and series assignment

You can assign a component or a series to an employee or a group of employees by position, location, or eligibility group.

  • A component is an individual procedure, test, or vaccine requirement. For example, a test for Hepatitis A antibodies, one in a series of hepatitis vaccines, a COVID-19 test, or a flu shot. Components can be linked into a component series.
  • A series, also called a health series or component series, is composed of related or sequential components that have been linked together, sometimes with contingencies. For example, a positive result from the component Test for Hepatitis A Antibodies can trigger Inoculation Round 1 for Hepatitis and after a specified interval, Inoculation Round 2 for Hepatitis. The three components are handled as a series.

You can set up a series for later use to ensure consistency and convenience during assignment and scheduling.

    See Creating a health series.

Each assignment requires that you specify an action reason. You must set up reason codes and eligibility groups, if required, before assigning components.

You can schedule appointments when you make the assignment, or schedule them later.

Attaching a component

There are two separate actions that provide for attachment of a component.

  • You can attach a component to a safety incident. In this case, the component becomes a follow-up task for the employee to whom the component is assigned.
  • You can attach a component to a position. In this case, the component is automatically assigned to any future employees who are hired into the position. A separate assignment action is required to apply the component to employees who currently hold the position.

Component status upon assignment

If the health component has been configured for clearance, then a Component Status field is displayed on the health component. After a clearance-configured component is assigned to an employee, Component Status for that component is automatically set to Not Cleared. This status indicates that the employee is not eligible to return to the workplace in person until the component is completed.

You can manually clear an employee to return to the workplace. See Updating in-process assignments.
