Assigning a personal activity

Personal activities are available to employees, managers, and mentors. Personal activities are not displayed on the catalog. Employees can request only non-required personal activities. You can assign required or non-required personal activities to an employee. You can complete an employee's personal activity.

To define a personal activity for a direct report, follow these steps:

  1. Access the personal activities for the employee.
    • Select Manager > Develop Employees > Development Plans. Open the employee's development plan. On the Activities tab, click Assign Personal Activity.
    • Select My Staff, right-click the name of the employee, and select Assign Personal Activity.
  2. Specify this information:
    Description
    Specify a description of the personal activity.
    Start Date
    Specify the date for the direct report to start the activity.
    Due Date
    Specify the due date for the activity. This date must be after the start date.
    Required
    Select this check box to add the activity to the development plan if this is a required activity for the direct report. Clear this check box if the activity is not required.

    Direct reports can only withdraw from non-required activities. You can cancel non-required activities and waive required activities.

    Priority
    Optionally, specify a number to represent the priority for the personal activity. This field is informational only.
    Comments
    Optionally, specify additional comments.
  3. Click Submit.
    The personal activity is added to the Active Activities panel with a status of Confirmed Activity. It is available to the employee and the employee's mentors.

    You can update, waive, copy, complete, or fail to complete a required personal activity.

    You can update, cancel, copy, or complete a non-required personal activity.

    You can associate a personal activity with a goal.
