Validating checklist components

You can validate a checklist component for a direct report if the checklist component was defined to allow managers to validate it.

If the checklist component definition requires you to have the skill or proficiency that you are validating, you will not be allowed to validate the competency or skill if you do not have it or it has expired. To find out whether you can validate a checklist component, open the checklist component and check the Validation section.

You will see all your direct reports' checklist components, whether or not you can validate them.

You can also validate the checklist components in Develop Employees > Checklists or Develop Employees > Development Plans > Checklists tab or full profile My Staff > View Full Profile .

To validate a checklist component

  1. Select Manager > Develop Employees > Development Tasks and locate the checklist component you want to validate.
  2. Open the checklist component.

If you do not need to verify the checklist component or complete criteria, select the component then click Validate.

  3. If the checklist component includes criteria, complete the criteria by selecting them (or verify that the employee has completed them), then click Validate.

You can validate a checklist component without completing the criteria. If you do, the criteria will get completed automatically.
