Appraisal reassignment

An employee's direct manager is typically the owner of the employee's appraisals. Sometimes the appraisal owner, who is responsible for completing and submitting the appraisal, is different from the employee's direct manager.

For example, direct managers who are temporarily absent may want to delegate another manager to process the appraisals for which they are responsible. A new manager for an employee may want the employee's former manager to complete the employee appraisal. A manager's position may become vacant and someone else needs to complete the performance appraisals that the former manager was responsible for. An employee may transfer to another manager. If the Automatic Appraisal Reassignment option was not selected on the Organization Configuration form, the appraisals are still owned by the former manager. The former manager or the new manager must reassign the appraisals.

To ensure that employee appraisals can always be reassigned whatever the circumstances. Performance Management provides the ability to reassign appraisal ownership to these roles:

  • The employee's direct manager
  • The employee's upline manager
  • The current appraisal owner's upline manager
