Approving or rejecting action plans

You may receive a notification when an employee submits action plans for your approval. You can review but not change the action plans.

Note: Approving action plans is a one-time action for a goal year and period. So you must ensure all the employee's action plans for the year and period have been defined before you approve them. After you have approved all action plans for a year and period, any goals created subsequently for that same year will have their action plans created in Approved status, whether or not the goal type requires approval.
  1. Select Manager > Manage Goals > Goals.
  2. In My Staff, select the employee for whom to approve action plans.
  3. On the employee's card view, click the Action Plans link.
  4. Filter on the goal year and period to approve.

All the action plans for the goal year and period display. Because the goal type of a goal determines whether the action plan requires approval, you may see action plans defined for a different goal type for the same goal year and period that are already in Approved status. The action plans that you need to review are in Needs Approval status.

  5. Review the action plans that need approval.
  6. If you are not satisfied with all the action plans, or you think more action plans may still need to be submitted for the goal year and period, reject the action plans.
    1. Select one of the Needs Approval action plans and click Reject Action Plans.
    2. Specify this information:
      Goal Year

Specify the goal year for which to reject action plans

      Period

Specify the goal year period for which to reject action plans.

      Comments

Specify the reason for rejecting the action plans.

    3. Click OK.

The action plan status changes from Needs Approval to Draft.

If notifications are configured, the employee receives a notification.

On the employee's action plan list, the status changes from Submitted to Draft. A yellow alert denotes that the action plans have been rejected.

The comments are displayed on all views of the action plans.

  7. If you are satisfied with all the action plans, select one of the Needs Approval action plans and click Approve Action Plans.

The status of all the action plans changes to Approved on all action plan views.

Note: This action cannot be reversed. The employee can still make changes to the action plans and if notifications are configured, you can be notified when the employee makes changes.
