Defining an action plan on behalf of an employee (administrator)

Defining action plans is typically the responsibility of the employees. However, administrators have access to create or maintain action plans on any resource's behalf.

  1. Access Administrator > Goals > Resource Goals.
  2. Select the resource for whom you want to see goals. The resource's goals display in the bottom panel.
  3. Locate the goal for which you want to define an action plan.
    Note:

You can define an action plan for goals in Pending status or in Active status.

  4. If the goal for which you want to create an action plan does not yet have an action plan schedule defined (or you are not sure if it does), select the goal and select All Actions Menu > Create Action Plan. If the action plan schedule does not exist, it will be created. If the schedule already exists, you will receive a warning. Click OK.
    Note:

If the action plan does not require approval, it is created in Approved status. If the action plan requires approval, it is created in Draft status.

  5. On the Resources panel, click Action Plans to view all the goals for which the resource has action plans.
    • Search on a year and period to display all the goals that have action plan schedules for the year and period.

    • Select a goal in the left column to view the action plan for that goal and period.

    or

Open the goal and click the Action Plan tab to view the action plan just for that goal.

    • Select a period in the top panel to view the action plan for the period in the bottom panel.

  6. Whichever view you choose, select the goal and period for which you want to create an action plan, and click Create.
  7. To add an action plan item, specify a description of the item, the step or steps you intend to take, and the expected results.
    Note:

You do not have to have text in all three fields. You could have text in only one.

  8. Click Save.
  9. To add more lines to the period action plan, repeat steps 7 and 8.

As you add lines, the system assigns them the next sequential number.

  10. To move an action plan line to a new position
    1. Double-click the action plan line to open it.
    2. In the New Line Number field, type the line number that you want to assign to the line, and click Save.

The line is inserted in the position that you assigned it, and all the lines that follow are renumbered sequentially.
