Creating action reasons

As you identify actions that are commonly used in your organization, you can create action reasons. Administrators can also create an action reason from a form's Action Reason field.

Note: Administrators can use the F6 (Define) key to define an action reason from a form. In this case, the subject of the action reason is in the context of the form that uses the field and is not required.

Action reasons are defined globally but are associated with specific actions in Infor HR Talent. They can be defined at any time before a user opens a form, such as an action request that has action reason fields on it.

All actions in HR Talent are recorded in the audit log. You can note the reason in the Action Reason and Action Comment fields. These fields are not displayed on all forms but all action requests have action reason fields.

Note: You can set up your desktop to show the Action Reason form every time you perform an action. You can select this option at any time and switch it on and off.

To activate this option on the Edit menu, select the Show Action Reason/Action Comment check box on Show > Setting > Advanced. To inactivate this option, clear the check box.

Action reasons are assigned to a predefined business subject. You cannot create new business subjects. Business subjects determine which action reasons are available on which forms. For example, a resource who requests a leave can only select the action reasons that are defined for the HCMRequestLeave business subject.

  1. Select Administrator > Set Up > Action Reasons.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify this information:
    Subject
Select the business subject to which the reason is attached. This determines the forms where the action reason can be used.
    Effective Date
Select the date on which the action reason becomes effective.
    Action Reason
Specify the name of the action reason.
    Description
Specify a description of the action reason.
    Status
Select Active to make the action reason active, which is the default. Select Inactive if you do not want the action reason to be available immediately.
  4. Click Save.
