Maintaining competency models

You can inactivate or delete a competency model and change a competency model description directly on the competency model list. To apply an effective date other than today's date to any change or deletion, you must open the competency model and make your changes or deletion in the record, including an effective date.

  1. Select Qualifications > Competency Models.
  2. Use these procedures to maintain the competency model:
    • To inactivate a competency model, open the competency model to inactivate. Clear the Active field, specify an effective date, and click Save.

      If you inactivate a competency model, it cannot be attached to a new job or position. If it is already attached, the competencies and skills are listed as inactive on jobs and positions that are associated with the competency model.

    • To update a competency model, on the competency models list, open the model. You can add and remove competency groups. If the competency model is already attached to a job or position, the skills and competencies that are associated with the added or removed competency group are added to or removed from the job or position.
      • To update header information, specify your updates, including an effective date, and save the model.
      • To add competency groups, on Competency Groups, click Create, select the groups to add, and select Attach Competency Group.
      • To remove a competency group, highlight the group or groups to delete, click Delete, and click OK to confirm. Specify an effective date when prompted.
    • To delete a competency model, highlight the competency model to delete on the competency models list, click Delete, and click OK to confirm. Specify an effective date when prompted. You cannot delete a competency model that is attached to a job or position.
