Defaulted responsibility weights

Responsibility weights are optional. They are used only in performance appraisal calculations.

Weights can be specified or overridden in these locations:

  • On the Responsibilities list (Administrator > Set Up > Jobs and Positions > Job Components > Responsibilities > Responsibility Groups tab)

  • On the Responsibilities list for a responsibility group (Administrator > Set Up > Jobs and Positions > Job Components > Responsibilities > Responsibility Groups tab)

  • On a job's detailed responsibilities list

  • On a position's detailed responsibilities list (not on the responsibilities defaulted from the job)

  • On managers' employee appraisals (only if the appraisal form section is configured to allow it)

If you use weighting, the total weights of the responsibilities assigned to a position (including responsibilities defaulted from the job and responsibilities assigned to the position only) cannot exceed the weight assigned to the position.

  • When attached, the weight defaults to the responsibility group's responsibilities.

  • The weight can be changed on the responsibility group's responsibilities.

  • Changing the weight on the responsibility group doe not change the original weight.

  • Changing the weight of the source responsibility does not automatically change the weight of the responsibility in the responsibility group. But you can use the Synchronize Weight action on the Responsibilities list to update the weight wherever the responsibility is used.

  • When attached, the weight defaults to the job's detailed responsibilities.

  • The weight can be changed on job's detailed responsibilities.

  • Changing the weight on the job does not change the original weight.

  • Changing the weight of the source responsibility does not automatically change the weight of the responsibility in the job. But you can use the Synchronize Weight action on the Responsibilities list to update the weight wherever the responsibility is used.

  • When attached, the weight defaults to the position's detailed responsibilities.

  • The weight can be changed on position's detailed responsibilities.

  • The weights defaulted from the job's responsibilities cannot be changed on the position. But if a responsibility weight is changed on a job, it is automatically changed on all the job's positions.

  • Changing the weight on the position does not change the original weight.

  • Changing the weight of the source responsibility does not automatically change the weight of the responsibility in the position. But you can use the Synchronize Weight action on the Responsibilities list to update the weight wherever the responsibility is used.
Responsibility group NA

  • When attached, the weight of all the responsibility group's responsibilities defaults to the job's detailed responsibilities.

  • Weights can be changed on the job's detailed responsibilities.

  • Changing the weight on the job does not change the weight in the responsibility group or in the source responsibility.

  • Changing a weight in the source responsibility group does not automatically change the weight of the responsibility in the job. But you can use the Synchronize Weight action on the responsibility group's Responsibilities list to update the weight wherever the responsibility is group is used.

  • When attached, the weight of all the responsibility group's responsibilities defaults to the position's detailed responsibilities.

  • Weights can be changed on the position's detailed responsibilities.

  • The weights defaulted from the job's responsibilities cannot be changed on the position. But if a responsibility weight is changed on a job, it is automatically changed on all the job's positions.
