Requesting goals

  1. Sign in as Employee.
  2. Select Manage Goals.

Or, select My Development > Development Plan > Goals tab.

Or, select My Profile > Goals.

  3. Click Request New Goal.
  4. Specify this information:
    Goal

Specify the name of the goal.

    Type

Select a predefined goal type. There is a limitation on selecting a goal type whose Approve Goals By Year option is selected. This goal type is available only if employees can initiate goals of this type in the year that you select.

    Category

Optionally, select the predefined category that matches that of the organizational goal. To align the goal with organizational goals in multiple categories, leave this field blank.

    Year

This is required if you have selected a goal type whose Use Action Plan, Use External Results, or Approve Goals By Year option is selected.

The year defaults to the current goal year, with the current goal year start and due date. You can select a different year.

    Start date

Specify the date on which the employee must begin goal activities. Goal-type settings might require that the year be specified. If so, the start date must match the goal-year start date, and you cannot change it. If the year is not required, you can change the start date.

    Due date

Specify the date by which the goal must be completed. Goal-type settings might require that the year be specified. If so, the due date must match the goal-year end date, and you cannot change it. If the year is not required, you can change the due date.

    Weight

Assign a weight to the goal. Goal weights can be used in appraisal calculations, in bonus objectives, and in calculations for goals scored with external results. If you select a category that has a weight range specified for the goal year, the weight must be within that range. If an aggregate limit is specified for the category and goal year, you cannot create the goal if it would exceed the aggregate limit. All rated goals must be assigned weights before the manager can complete a performance appraisal.

    Progress
Select a predefined option to describe your current achievement level against the goal. For example, On Target, Ahead Of Schedule, Behind Schedule.
    Public

Select this check box to enable other employees to copy the goal.

    Description

Specify a more detailed explanation of the goal.

    Expected Result

Specify the outcome of the goal.

    Smart Rating

Select the appropriate check box(es) to assess how the goal complies with SMART objective principles.

  5. Click Save.

The goal is displayed on your Pending tab as a draft. It is not displayed to your manager until you submit it for approval. You can delete the goal. You can update it before submitting it for approval.
