Defining and maintaining cost types

Use this procedure to define the types of costs to track for development activities and resource development activity requests. Examples include airfare, hotel accommodations, meals, registration fees, and so on.

  1. Select Development Planning > Set Up > Costs > Cost Types.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify this information:
    Effective Date

    Required. Specify the effective date.

    Cost Type

    Required. Specify the name of the cost type.

    Description

    Specify the description of the cost type. If you leave this field blank, the cost type name defaults.

    Active

    Select this check box to make the cost type active. Inactive cost types do not appear in lists.

    Use For Hours Outside Work

    (French localization only) Select this check box if you want to use this work type to track hours outside work.

  4. Click Save.
    Maintaining cost types:
    • To update a cost type, open the cost type, update any of the fields, select an effective date, and save.

    • To delete a cost type, open the cost type, specify an effective date, click Delete, and click Yes to confirm.
