Defining and maintaining development periods

Note: Not applicable if you are using Infor Learning Management.

A development period is a container for learning budgets and their associated development activities. It contains all of the approved development activities for a period or for a period and legal entity.

  1. Select Development Planning > Set Up > Budget Components > Development Periods.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify this information:
    Effective Date

    Required. Specify the effective date.

    Development Period

    Required. Specify the name of the development period.

    Description

    Specify the description of the development period. If left blank, the development period name defaults.

    Active

    Select this check box to make the development period active. Inactive development periods do not display in lists.

    Default Budget Category

    Select the budget category that will be automatically assigned to development activity requests for this development period.

    Note: If you choose a default budget category, the learning manager must review all development activity requests and change the budget category for those that do not belong.

    If left blank, the learning manager must provide a budget category for all development activity requests.

    Legal Entity

    If your organization organizes development periods by legal entities, select the legal entity associated with this development period. The system will restrict budget calculations and development activity requests for this development period to resources that are associated with the legal entity.

    Period Dates

    Required. Specify the begin date and end date for the development period.

    New Request Lockout Period

    If there is a period during which you do not want new development activity requests to be submitted for this development period, specify the begin date and end date of the lockout period.

  4. Click Save.
  5. Return to Development Periods form.

    When you add budgets to the development period, they will display in the Development Budgets region. You can add budgets in this region, or you can use the Budgets link on the Navigation panel.

    Maintaining development periods:

    • To update a development period, open the development period, update any of the editable fields, select an effective date, and save.

    • To delete a development period, open the development period, specify an effective date, click Delete, and click Yes to confirm.

      Note: You cannot delete a development period that is associated with a budget.
