Defining and maintaining instructors

Note: Not applicable if you are using Infor Learning Management.

Use this procedure to define instructors. You must define resources as instructors before you can assign them to providers. After an instructor is linked to a provider, the instructor can be assigned to a session.

Instructors must exist as resources in the Infor HR Talent before they can be defined in Development Planning.

  1. Select Development Planning > Set Up > Instructors.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Specify this information:
    Effective Date

    Specify the effective date.

    Instructor

    Select the resource to define as an instructor. The resource must be defined in Infor HR Talent.

    Note: To locate instructors with a specific relationship to the organization (for example, external instructors), you can filter on the Relationship To Organization field.
    Active

    Select the Active check box to make the instructor active. Inactive instructors are not displayed in lists.

    Full-Time

    Select this check box if the instructor is a full-time instructor. This can be important for costing.

    If the budget for full-time instructors is included in the overhead for internal Development Planning organizations, it cannot also be included in the cost of development activities and sessions. For part-time instructors, the salary costs related to Development Planning should be included in the cost of development activities and sessions.

  4. Click Save.

    The system updates the Relationship To Organization field and the contact fields from the resource's record.

    Maintaining instructors:

    • To update an instructor, open the instructor, make your changes (including the effective date), and click Save.

      The only fields you can change are the Active status and the Full-Time status.

    • To delete an instructor, open the instructor, specify an effective date, click Delete, and click Yes to confirm.

    • To associate a provider with an instructor, click the Providers tab, click Attach Instructor, select the provider, and save.

    • To associate an instructor with a session, click the Sessions tab, click Attach Instructor, select the activity, session and type, and click Save.
