Professional categories and Development Planning (learning budgets only)

Note: Not applicable if you are using Infor Learning Management.

You can use professional categories to define groups of resources that hold similar positions with similar compensation. In some countries, these categories are legally defined. When you estimate costs for a resource development activity, the learning-related salary costs can be based either on the resource's professional category's learning rate or on an 'other pay' rate specific to each resource.

Professional categories are global and each resource's work assignment can be assigned to a professional category. Each professional category is assigned a learning rate. The learning rate is used as the basis to calculate a resource's costs related to specific learning activities.

For example, you could create a professional category for sales representatives and assign a learning rate to that professional category that would then be used in estimating the salary costs for development activities requested for sales representatives.
