Calculating budgets

Note: Not applicable if you are using Infor Learning Management.

When you calculate a budget, the system computes a salary amount for each eligible resource, using the calculation methods defined for the budget, and applied the budget percentage to the total salary amount. The system also distributes a budget amount to each manager.

Note: You can recalculate a budget at any time before the budget is finalized, provided the budget has not been released to the managers. If the budget is in Released status, you must first revert the budget to Preliminary status before you can recalculate it. If you recalculate the budget, you lose any adjustments that you made.
  1. Select Development Planning > Learning Budgets > Calculate Budgets.
  2. To view how many budgets have been calculated within the development period, select the development period.
  3. To calculate a budget, on the Development Periods tab, select Calculate Budgets.
  4. On the Calculate Budget Form, specify this information:
    Development Period

    Required. Select the development period for which to calculate a budget.

    Development Budget

    Select the budget to calculate. If you do not select a budget, the system calculates all budgets in the development periods.

  5. Click OK to calculate the budget immediately.

    or

    Click Schedule to schedule the action for a later time.

    The system calculates the budget.

  6. Click the View Calculation Progress tab to monitor the progress of the calculation. When the action disappears, the calculations are complete.
    Note: Whether or not scheduled, your budget calculation is a scheduled action. The results of the calculation on the View Calculation tab are not reliable until the action has completed.
  7. When you have ascertained that the scheduled action completed, click the View Calculation Results tab.

    If the budget calculated without errors, a green symbol displays. If there are errors, a red symbol displays. Highlight the budget and click the Errors tab to view the errors. The Errors tab lists the resources that were left out of the calculation and the reason.

  8. To view the distributed amounts for each manager, highlight the budget. The managers and their distributed amounts display on the Distributed Budget Amounts tab.
