Maintaining estimated costs for development activity requests

Note: Not applicable if you are using Infor Learning Management.

A resource development activity request must be associated with a budget before you can view or update its costs.

When a development activity request is submitted and associated with a budget, it automatically inherits the development activity standard costs that match the budget currency. The learning manager can then modify or delete the existing costs and add new standard costs. At this time, resource rate-based or professional-rate based costs are also estimated by the system.

Note: (France localization only) For standard costs that are used to track hours outside of work, the number of units defaults from the estimated hours outside of work entered on the DIF request. Non-DIF activity requests also inherit hours outside of work standard costs that exist on the development activity and match the budget currency. The number of units is zero and is not updatable.

Use this procedure to add standard costs to development activity requests:

  1. Select Development Planning > Learning Budgets > Prepare Budgets.
  2. Click the Requests tab.
    Note: You can also open the request within the budget that it is associated with in the Budgets region of Budget Details.
  3. Use this procedure to add standard costs that are not associated with a development activity request:
    1. Select the development activity request to which to add new standard costs.
    2. On the Costs tab, click the Helper List icon to view the standard costs that are available.
    3. Select the standard costs to add (use Ctrl-Click to select multiple costs).
      Note: You can only select standard costs in the same currency as the budget.
    4. Click Create Resource Activity Costs.

      The standard costs you selected appear on the Estimated Costs tab.

      Note: Open a cost to see the calculation details such as the as of date used, the number of units, the multiplier if applicable, and so on.
  4. To change the amount associated with the standard cost, either specify a new number of units to recalculate the estimated cost or specify a new estimated cost, and click Save.
    Note: If you specify a new estimated cost, it will be overridden if you later change the number of units and save.
  5. (DIF requests only) To update the estimated number of hours outside of work for all hours outside of work costs, open an hours outside of work cost, click Update Estimated Hours Outside Of Work, specify the number of hours outside of work, and click OK.
    Note: You can also update the number of hours outside of work directly on the cost list.
  6. To remove a cost, highlight the cost, click Delete, then click Yes to confirm.
