Defining the awarding view display for planning rules

You can control whether the manager sees and can override budget amounts, whether the manager can view each resource's budget, and (for planning rules of type Salary only) whether they can view and/or update the pay rate increase percent and pay rate increase amount.

  1. Select Compensation > Set Up > Compensation Planning > Planning Rules.
  2. Open the planning rule.
  3. On the Awarding Display tab, specify this information:
    Attached To View

If the planning rule is already attached to a compensation awarding view, the name of the awarding view displays. Click Change to change the awarding view if neither the planning rule or the awarding view is final.

If no awarding view is attached, you can click Attach to attach the planning rule to an awarding view.

    Default Budget Amount

Select this check box for the calculated budgeted amounts to default to the resources' award amounts in the manager view.

    Portion Of Budget To Default

If you select the Default Budget Amount check box, you can specify the percentage of the calculated budgeted amounts that should default in the manager view.

If you leave this field blank, 100% of the calculated budgeted amounts for the resources will be displayed in the manager view.

No Manager Override To Default Amount

Select this check box if you do not want the manager to override the defaulted amounts.

    Note:

You are more likely to use this option for market adjustment planning rules, if an organization wants to ensure that resources below the salary structure range are automatically brought up to the minimum amount.

    Budget By Resource

Select this check box for the manager to see each resource's calculated budget. If you do not select this check box, the manager will see only the total budget.

Pay Rate Increase Percent, Allow Updates

(Salary award type only) Select Pay Rate Increase Percent for the manager to see the pay rate increase percent.

If you also want the manager to be able to update the pay rate increase percent, select the Allow Updates check box also.

Pay Rate Increase Amount, Allow Updates

(Salary award type only) Select Pay Rate Increase Amount for the manager to see the pay rate increase amount.

If you also want the manager to be able to update the pay rate increase amount, select the Allow Updates check box also.

  4. Click Save.
