Defining external metrics for compensation programs

Use this procedure to define external metrics for a compensation program. You can specify external metrics for a compensation program or for an individual resource.

Note: 

You can also create external metrics from the setup forms.

  1. Select Compensation > Incentive Compensation > External Metrics > Program Metrics.
  2. Click Create.
  3. In the Compensation Program External Metric form, specify this information:
    Compensation Program

    Select the compensation program that requires an external metric such as sales attainments or period revenue.

    Version Date

    Select the version for the compensation program.

    Pay Component

    Select a pay component for the external metric.

    Type

    Select the attainment based on this metric record to look up the payout amount from the compensation table.

    Select Other Amount to refer to amounts used on compensation formulas.

    Compensation Period

    Required. Select the compensation period for this metric.

    Date

    Specify the date on which the metric is valid.

    Description

    Specify a description for the metric.

    Numeric Value

    Specify a number for the metric. The value that you specify depends on the table type for this pay component. For example, if the table type is Numeric Step + Alpha Value, specify both numeric and alpha attainments.

    Alpha Value

    Specify an alphabetic value for the metric. The value that you specify depends on the table type for this pay component. For example, if the table type is Numeric Step + Alpha Value, specify both numeric and alpha attainments.

    Percent Value

    Specify a percent for the metric. The value that you specify depends on the table type for this pay component. For example, if the table type is Percent Interpolation, specify a percent value.

  4. Click Save.
