Defining guidelines for planning rules

Use this procedure to provide recommendations to managers. For example, if you have an employee whose performance rating shows "Good Solid Performer," you can recommend that the employee should receive a 3 percent salary increase. You can create different guidelines for different eligibility groups.

Note:

Do not define guidelines for market adjustment planning rules; in this case guidelines are calculated by the budget calculations.

  1. Select Compensation > Set Up > Compensation Planning > Planning Rules.
  2. On the Planning Rules form, open the planning rule.
  3. On the Guidelines tab, click Create, and select one of these actions.
    • Create Performance Rating And Position In Range: (Not available for equity salary rules) Select for the guidelines to be based on the resource's performance rating and position in range (where the employee's current salary falls within the salary structure range).

See Create performance rating and position in range.

    • Create Performance Rating And Compa Ratio: (Not available for equity salary rules) Select for the guidelines to be based on the resource's performance rating and compa ratio (where the application compares the current salary to the compa ratio zone that you defined in the resource's salary structure).

See Creating performance rating and compa ratio.

    • Create Performance Rating: Select for the guidelines to be based on performance ratings only.

      See Create Performance Rating.

    • Create Eligibility Group Only: Select for the guidelines to be based on eligibility groups only.

      See Create Performance Rating.
