Configuring proxy management

You can use proxy management so that one resource can complete certain tasks on behalf of another resource. This is useful when a resource is unable to perform duties and may require another resource to act in their absence. For example, due to vacation or illness.

Proxy functionality works independently of Delegate security roles. Proxy access is not supported for Delegates.

Term Description
Grantor An actor who has been assigned a Proxyable Role and has granted Proxy access to another actor.
Proxy An actor who has been authorized to act on the behalf of the Grantor.
Proxyable Role A security role that has been enabled for proxy assignment. The security role is associated with security classes that grant access to the Proxy to perform work on behalf of the Grantor. The security classes can be written to limit the Proxy to a subset of the Grantor’s typical security privileges. In general, the security templates delivered to enable proxy access prevent the Proxy from updating their own records and the personal records of the Grantor.

Five security roles are delivered as proxyable roles in Infor HR Talent. The roles are designed to use the web user interface.

Role Description
ProxyBonusObjective A Proxy can perform bonus objective tasks on behalf of the Grantor. The security template enables the Proxy to perform work on the Grantor’s subordinates records
ProxySalaryAwarding A proxy can perform compensation-awarding tasks on behalf of the Grantor. The security template does not grant access to the Proxy to perform work on their own records individually or as part of a set of awards. The security template does not prevent the Proxy from acting as an intermediate approver on their own records.
ProxyDirectSupervisor A Proxy can perform direct supervisor tasks on behalf of the Grantor. In the security template, the Proxy does not have authority to approve work for their own records as the final approver. Examples include approving their own Special Incentive payout and Salary Award.
HiringManager A Proxy can perform hiring manager tasks based on the standard Hiring Manager security template on behalf of the Grantor. Examples include requesting new job requisitions, and approving offer, hires, and transfers.
ProxyTimeOffApprover A Proxy can perform these tasks on behalf of the Grantor:
  • view absence plan information
  • perform leave of absence actions
  • perform time off request actions
  • perform time off request approval

The security template enables the Proxy to view their own plans, leaves of absence and time off requests. Proxies do not have authority to take action on their own records.

Other roles can be designated as proxyable.

Note:

Security rules to limit a Proxy’s access to their own record and to the record of the Grantor are written in the security classes. They are not implicitly part of the Proxy functionality. The security templates that are delivered to support Proxy functionality include this logic. Security rules in the delivered templates may also limit a Proxy's access where legal requirements do not enable a proxy to perform certain tasks.
