Synchronizing the OpenSesame catalog

To perform this task, sign in as a learning administrator or as a content administrator.

Administrators use the synchronization process to import current OpenSesame content to Learning and Development:

  • licensed course that are available in their OpenSesame accounts
  • the current LinkedIn Learning course image
  • categories
  • continuing education credits

Learning administrators can preview courses once the synchronization is complete. Learning administrators can enroll and assign a resource to an activity. Administrators can synchronize content manually, and they can schedule periodic synchronizations.

The Sync OpenSesame Catalog shows information about course synchronization:

  • New: courses that were created since the last sync
  • Updated: courses that were updated since the last sync
  • Retired: courses that are not active in OpenSesame

When the synchronization is complete, the last synchronization date is updated to the date of the most recent synchronization. The courses are shown with statuses that show if they were added, updated or retired with the most recent synchronization.

  1. Select Utilities > Bulk Actions > Sync OpenSesame Catalog.
  2. Click Sync Catalog.
  3. Specify this information:
    Activity Type
Specify the activity type in Learning and Development to which the OpenSesame content is mapped. For example, if the content you are synchronizing is a course, specify Course.
  4. Click Submit. To schedule synchronizations, click Schedule and specify parameters.
  5. To download all courses from OpenSesame again, click Redownload all courses. This is useful if the initial synchronization must be re-processed or to synchronize new metadata and apply it to courses.
